Midlothian TSIs consists of Midlothian Voluntary Action (MVA), Volunteer Midlothian, and the Social Enterprise Alliance Midlothian (SEAM). We provide support, guidance and representation for third sector organisations, including volunteer-involving organisations, working in Midlothian. This includes grassroots community groups, charities and social enterprises. We do this by providing free one to one development support, delivering an annual programme of training, workshops and networking events, distributing news and information via our e-bulletins and social media and running the Third Sector Forum, giving a voice to the sector within Midlothian’s Community Planning Partnership. We also provide a full range of support to people wanting to volunteer.

Social Enterprise Alliance Midlothian (SEAM)
SEAM is a loose network of social enterprises based or working in Midlothian. It’s role is to foster collaborative relationships between Midlothian social enterprises and ensure they have the support they need to sustainably grow, raise the profile of local enterprises and beyond and represent Midlothian social enterprise at the national level.

Volunteer Midlothian is the leading agency for volunteering development in Midlothian. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer or want to promote an opportunity, we’re here to help.
We provide free advice on how and where to volunteer in Midlothian, a database of volunteering opportunities, advice for young people about volunteering – including access to the Saltire Awards scheme – support for organisations to develop volunteering projects and opportunities and promotion of opportunities through our website, social media and our local networks.
Culture & Business Scotland is an independent Scottish charity (Scottish charity SC042631). We act as the connector between culture and business sectors to enable, inspire and support exciting and mutually beneficial cross-sector relationships, to build knowledge, skills, and expertise where they’re needed most, and to champion the impact and value of cultural experiences on all of our lives.
Across Scotland, we support individuals to build their career management, work-based and employability skills, throughout their career journey, from school, into further learning opportunities and employment. We are able to use skills intelligence to help inform the decisions of people across Scotland, at all stages of their careers, so that they are well-placed to take up the opportunities arising within the economy.
Our purpose is to support community-led action in Scotland to address the climate and nature emergency, working for a just, thriving and resilient Scotland. We are a volunteer-led network with full free membership open to any community group across Scotland that is taking action on the climate crisis and to any organisation that is involved with or supports community-led climate action. Individual free membership is open to anyone who is involved with or supports local, community-led action to address the same issues.
Membership
SCCAN membership is free and allows member organisations and individuals to access exclusive funding, development and networking opportunities. It also provides access to peer to peer learning, increasing the impact of organising in communities all across Scotland, and to collaborate on specific SCCAN contracts and commissions.
Climate for Change
We’ve received support from the Scottish Government to train people to facilitate discussions around climate in people’s homes, with each session generating a lead for the next, eventually educating and empowering thousands of individuals to take action on climate. Community Learning Exchange (CLE)
CLE provides the solution to the financial barriers of site visits and networking, be it digital or face to face, an obstacle the Scottish Government has recognised as prohibitive to the potential of community groups. It is only available to groups who are members of the Scottish Community Alliance, of which SCCAN is one. It can cover travel, hosting, time for planning and other costs. The Community Transport Association (CTA) is a national charity that represents and supports providers of community transport: thousands of local charities and community groups across the UK that all provide transport services that fulfil a social purpose and community benefit. We are for, and about, accessible and inclusive transport.
Our vision is of a world where people can shape and create their own accessible and inclusive transport solutions and our mission is to achieve this through championing accessible and inclusive transport, connecting people and ideas, and by strengthening our members and raising standards. We have 160+ members in Scotland and support them with advice, networking, policy work and anticipation of future challenges to the sector.
At GCVS, we’re here to support community groups, voluntary organisations, and social enterprises with the help and training they need to succeed. By strengthening the voluntary sector, both citizens and communities can benefit. We provide free support in Glasgow for the essentials like fundraising, governance, measuring impact and climate friendly practice. Our paid for services Scotland wide for Payroll, HR and Health & Safety provide in-depth expertise.
CVS Falkirk & District is recognised by Scottish Government and Falkirk Community Planning Partnership (CPP) as the third sector interface for the Falkirk area. We have a primary role in ensuring the continuation and development of a vibrant third sector (charities, social enterprises, community and voluntary groups etc) in Falkirk.
We work with existing social enterprises, and encourage individuals and organisations to be more socially enterprising, through a range of services, including but not limited to start up guidance, idea development, business planning, identifying funders, partnerships, legal and compliance issues, measuring social impact and tendering and procurement. We have a variety of local support options for social enterprises in Falkirk, who are familiar with the social enterprise model and can offer guidance on different subjects.
Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire is the third sector interface organisation for South Lanarkshire. Our work is varied between supporting the third sector and working with our partners including Scottish Government, South Lanarkshire Council, NHS Lanarkshire, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
The Ayrshire Community Trust (TACT) is a small charity based in Saltcoats offering services to the community and voluntary sector (also known as third sector) across North Ayrshire. Our mission is to deliver programmes and projects that make a difference to people’s lives by encouraging, supporting and promoting community action.
Creating opportunities for the Social Enterprise community in Perth and Kinross to develop and thrive, and recognising its positive impact on society and the local community. The group operates by working collaboratively to improve the social enterprise offer in the Perth and Kinross council area and to promote their goods and services.
VAO supports the third sector in Orkney by providing advice, information and practical services. The third sector is made up of voluntary, community and charitable groups, social enterprises and volunteers.
Voluntary Action Shetland seeks to respond to and support voluntary services in Shetland by meeting present and emerging needs, developing and promoting new ways of responding and encouraging people in Shetland to offer voluntary service to their community
The Rural Enterprise Directory Scotland (REDS) promotes businesses, social enterprises and the self-employed in Scotland’s rural and island economies. Participating enterprises are included in the online directory and have the option to accept the REDS gift card.
